Q Okay, I am going to date myself here….! When I first started working, our ‘computers’ filled an entire room and we used cassette tapes and reel-to-reel tapes to enter our data on. We shared space on a computer and there was no email that we used to send information. Instead, we often communicated through telephone exchanges. If we needed to chat, we picked up the phone. Back to today! It is amazing how fast technology has advanced our way of communicating with each other. It seems that the telephone is becoming quite antiquated with all of the different ways we have now. Think about your work or personal environment. If you are not working, you can use a personal experience to answer the questions. 1. How have the changes in technology changed how you communicate with each other in the workplace? 2. Are these newer technologies an advantage or disadvantage to managers? 3. What problems have you experienced when trying to adapt to technology change?
